Organizational Overview:

Controllership organization within Finance COE responsible to monitor day-to-day accounting activities involved in Synchrony business. Controllership mostly covers general accounting, client accounting, reconciliations, closing & reporting, system maintenance, governance related sub-processes. Every process contributes to our quarterly & annual financial close process and ensure that we have accurate external reporting.

Role Summary/Purpose: 
This role is responsible for accounting related activities for controllership team. The candidate will use analytical skills and general accounting knowledge to apply to various areas related to reconciliation, accruals, manual journal entry process, month-end reporting. The responsibilities will also include daily balancing; and daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly reconciliations. The role will also be involved in completing various accounting mentioned above & working on adhoc projects as per business requirement. 

 

Essential Responsibilities:  

  • Prepare assigned daily and month-end account reconciliations. 

  • Research and clear all suspense items. 

  • Clearing of rec items discovered during reconciliation process. 

  • Prepare daily, month and quarter-end journals. 

  • Perform weekly/biweekly reconciliations & respective matching process. 

  • Perform Manual data upload processes wherever required. 

  • Perform special projects and other duties as assigned. 

  • In addition, for the above areas, identify process improvements and simplification opportunities in processes. Once identified process improvements, drive the execution of those projects and work with others to drive to completion 

 

Qualifications/Requirements:  

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Accounting or Finance with 0-2 years experience in accounting or in lieu of a degree with 2+ years of accounting experience

  • Handling Journal entries, Reconciliations and Month – End Accounting Activities. 

Desired Characteristics:  

  • Oracle GL & reconciliations experience. 

  • Personal computer proficiency Microsoft Office product suite. 

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. 

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills. 

  • Controllership experience in a large organization or public accounting. 

  • Experience in financial services industry 

Eligibility Criteria:

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Accounting or Finance with 0-2 years experience in accounting or in lieu of a degree with 2+ years of accounting experience

Work Timings:  03:00 PM – 12:00 AM IST
