Organizational Overview : 

Synchrony's Risk Team is a dynamic and innovative team dedicated to provide oversight as 2nd Line of Defense.  

Risk Team oversees and manages the Risk Program in order to support the business in anticipating and addressing risks, issues and challenges. Results are consistent with the respective strategic uses and complying with related Overall Risk / Risk Testing policies, standards, procedures as well as regulations. This role is aligned to Enterprise Risk- Risk Testing analytics & requires high level of expertise with data & analytics – minimal technical supervision to effectively contribute to projects. 

Role Summary/Purpose: 

The selected candidate will be a L10-AVP on the Risk Analytics Team in India, that rolls up into Synchrony Financial India. The candidate will be responsible for using analytics and innovation to develop data driven solutions that yield efficiencies and enhanced effectiveness across the organization. This role will also be responsible for becoming a functional expert, while collaborating with Synchrony Process Owners including VP and SVP levels. The candidate is also responsible for building partnerships with various US stakeholders. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, lead, collaborate, manage, communicate, and influence data driven solutions and results primarily with the Risk Testing Team, but may support the other analytics pillars that include Compliance, Operational Risk and First Line Process Oversight. 

  • Identify how to measure control design and effectiveness, and review CTC’s; interpret its meaning and its analytics scope by leveraging internal Data warehouses 

  • Ability to work independently and able to perform technical code validations periodically 

  • Collaborate and engage with all levels of management including Senior Leaders across all sites to drive analytics-based process improvements, insights, thought leadership and actions. 

  • Become a data SME and an Analytics Athlete that includes endtoend functional learning, leveraging most data warehouses and applying the necessary tools for each solution that includes visualization, machine learning, speech analytics and data mining. 

  • Innovate data driven solutions independently with enterprise-wide customers across both the first and second lines of defense by leveraging the latest analytical tools and technologies. 

  • Problem solving through analytics to bring valueadd efficiencies to our customers that include solutions involving automation, visualization, analytical insight, and machine learning. 

  • Effectively engage with customers to de-risk Synchrony through analytical oversight and review of end-to-end processes utilizing data and effective challenge to ensure key objectives and risks are accurately connected in a meaningful manner. 

  • Engage in storytelling with the data output that will create a comprehensive view on what the data means including identified actions. 

  • Interact and present key data driven updates and initiatives to the stakeholders and regulators. 

  • Participate in the Risk Engagement Strategy process that will develop and drive improvements across the Risk Team 

  • Drive projects with minimum guidance 

Required Skills/Knowledge

  • Bachelor’s degree with minimum of 4+ years of experience in financial Risk services or banking/Credit card industry or in lieu of Degree, 6+ years of experience in financial Risk services or banking/Credit card industry. 

  • 4 years of Hands on working knowledge of SAS, SQL , Tableau  

  • Ability to interact with all levels of Leadership and collaborative across teams and functions 

  • Strong written/oral communication skills. 

  • Proven ability to deliver Analytical solutions for Business problems 

Desired Skills/Knowledge:

  • Ability to validate first line control framework as part of the Risk testing. 

  • Knowledge of Credit Card/Consumer Finance products and Risk analytics experience 

  • Ability to work on simultaneous multiple projects, organize work flow, and prioritize work assignments while being in different time zones. 

  • Experience in people and project management, including demonstrated ability to develop actionable plan to meet high level objectives, strong execution, and timeline sensitive deliverables. 

  • Experience of working in a matrix organization with multiple stakeholders. 

  • Sharp focus on accuracy with extreme attention to detail.

Eligibility Criteria: Bachelor’s degree with minimum of 4+ years of experience in financial Risk services or banking/Credit card industry or in lieu of Degree, 6+ years of experience in financial Risk services or banking/Credit card industry.

Work Timings: This role qualifies for Enhanced Flexibility and Choice offered in Synchrony India and will require the incumbent to be available between 06:00 AM Eastern Time – 11:30 AM Eastern Time (timings are anchored to US Eastern hours and will adjust twice a year locally). This window is for meetings with India and US teams. The remaining hours will be flexible for the employee to choose. Exceptions may apply periodically due to business needs.
