Risk and Credit are separate functions at Synchrony, but they interact daily and work closely together to form a secure foundation for our business.

Our Credit team is the gatekeeper to Synchrony, foundational to our business and key to our entire industry. We perform the mission critical work of deciding who is accepted for loans, how much credit we should extend to them and for how long. We also support prudent growth and business development efforts as well as maintaining relationships with Credit Bureaus and scoring vendors.

Our challenge is complex: every business and consumer is different, and the marketplace and economic environment are constantly shifting. Yet if we don’t get credit right, nothing else matters.

Risk Management is responsible for all consumer and commercial risk at Synchrony. Our goal is to ensure that all relevant risks to the business are identified, measured, monitored and controlled. It’s vital work that’s core to everything we do—we’re responsible for protecting the company by striking a sustainable balance between risk and growth.
