Credit Team decisions credit actions across the lifecycle of a customer – from acquisition to account management to collections and recovery – we work towards managing credit and fraud losses and elevating customer experience through powerful and proprietary insights on customer risk and credit behaviors. The actionable insights are driven by access to numerous alternative data sources, new age technologies, focused strategies, emerging algorithms, and predictive precision. Spread across 10 pillars the credit team in India caters to the entire gamut of decision sciences, from data management to model development to strategy design, and bringing it all to life through technology, and managing within the guardrails of our regulatory requirements. Role Summary/Purpose:

The role of AVP, Collections Segmentation will be responsible for developing, delivering and monitoring statistical segmentations and related strategies for traditional and alternative contact channels using advanced analytics and predictive statistical tools. The AVP is a thought leader in the team, initiating and leading initiatives as well as projects, working directly with stakeholders throughout the process, from initial discussions to presenting findings and results and consulting on execution. This is a key role in the success of the department and will partner cross functionally to help drive the team's vision.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop statistical segmentations to prioritize accounts for contact strategies, channel assignment, value based offers, etc. 

  • Evaluate performance of existing segmentations

  • Use optimization techniques to help maximize impact of segmentation strategies

  • Assess attributes from internal data sources, partners and external data sources to determine if the new attributes are incrementally predictive vs. champion segmentation

  • Work independently, manage and complete key initiatives and projects under tight deadlines

  • Ability to provide analytical support including pulling data, preparing analysis, interpreting data, making strategic recommendations, and presenting to various audiences

  • Track results of segmentation strategies and foster a "test and learn" culture through ongoing performance assessment

  • Partner with Strategy Delivery, Process teams and Operations to ensure strategies are working correctly

  • Participate in ad-hoc projects and analyses as needed

  • Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned

Required Skills/Knowledge:

  • Bachelor’s degree with quantitative underpinning (i.e., Data Science, Computer Science, Risk, Accounting, Business, Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering) with 4+ years of experience in Programming/Analytics ideally in support of Risk, Credit, Finance, Accounting, Consumer Lending, or other relevant professional experience; OR in lieu of a degree, 6+ years of experience in Programming/Analytics ideally in support of Risk, Credit, Finance, Accounting, Consumer Lending, or other relevant professional experience.

  • 4+ years of experience in data analytics to support strategic decisions

  • 4+ years of experience of advanced SQL, SAS, Data mining and E-Miner / similar decision tree software

  • 4+ years’ experience and expertise working in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Prior Credit / Risk Management or Collection Strategy experience

  • Ability to work with large or complex datasets

  • Experience with segmentation techniques such as decision trees or k-means clustering

  • Strong PC proficiency

Desired Skills/Knowledge:

  • Master's degree in Business or in a Quantitative related field

  • Proven analytical and decision-making skills

  • Experience with model development techniques such as linear regression, logistic regression, random forest etc.

  • Familiarity with data lake technologies and programming languages (Hadoop, Python, Hive, etc.) is a plus.

  • Strong communications, problem solving skills & attention to detail

  • Demonstrated ability to apply strategic thinking toward tactical execution

  • Experience working with cross-functional project teams

Eligibility Criteria :

Bachelor’s degree with quantitative underpinning (i.e., Data Science, Computer Science, Risk, Accounting, Business, Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering) with 4+ years of experience in Programming/Analytics ideally in support of Risk, Credit, Finance, Accounting, Consumer Lending, or other relevant professional experience; OR in lieu of a degree, 6+ years of experience in Programming/Analytics ideally in support of Risk, Credit, Finance, Accounting, Consumer Lending, or other relevant professional experience.

Work Timings:

This role qualifies for Enhanced Flexibility and Choice offered in Synchrony India and will require the incumbent to be available between 06:00 AM Eastern Time – 11:30 AM Eastern Time (timings are anchored to US Eastern hours and will adjust twice a year locally). This window is for meetings with India and US teams. The remaining hours will be flexible for the employee to choose. Exceptions may apply periodically due to business needs.
