Role Summary/Purpose:
The AVP, Data Operations Engineer, will oversee the operational support of Synchrony Financial Data Products. This individual will work on a team that is embarking on a journey which will transform the way we process and use this critical asset in a cloud-based environment. This role will be at the forefront to help drive elevated levels of automation and proactive management with goals to ensure the highest quality of data reaches both the company and our external clients.

Essential Responsibilities:

Management of processes related to technologies in big data environments such as Data Warehouse, Data Lake, AWS (Amazon Web Services) Cloud, Abinito, Database technologies, processes for managing data, Business Objects, Tableau and Anaconda.

Manage processes related to data, performance, and availability in a cloud-based environment.

Interface with Senior and Executive Leaders within the data organization and across the company.

Identify and implement automation solutions for operational purposes in AWS.

Manage resources, processes, and vendor management, as required.

Ticket efficiency, escalation management and overall improving customer service to the business.

Oversight of Incident, Event, & Problem Management processes, Capacity & Performance Management.

Drive process improvements.

Partner with Data Platform and Engineering teams to ensure effective transition to support.

Partner with Data Quality teams to ensure useability of all data products.

Drive issues through closure by engaging all appropriate resources.

Monitor technologies to ensure they are always available and functional.

Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned.
Qualifications/Requirements:
-
Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Data Science or similar fields and 4 years of IT experience; or in lieu of degree, High School Diploma/GED and 8+ years of IT experience

3+ years of machine learning experience including the ability to conduct gradient boosting, neural network, random forest and other innovative techniques

4+ years of experience with Cloud infrastructure (Data and Database architecture).

Experience with vendor management and good understanding of key Data service providers

4+ years experience with managing impact of compliance regulations.

Grade/Level: 11
The salary range for this position is 90,000.00 – 155,000.00 USD Annual and is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance.
Actual compensation offered within the posted salary range will be based upon work experience, skill level or knowledge.
Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro and Seattle.
Eligibility Requirements:

You must be 18 years or older

You must have a high school diploma or equivalent

You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process

You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.

New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months’ time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 18 months’ time in position before they can post. All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don’t meet the time in position or performance expectations).
