ORGANIZATIONAL OVERVIEW:
Synchrony Finance Centre of Excellence team broadly supports the areas of FP&A, Controllership, Treasury, Finance Analytics and Sourcing and carries out Direct ownership & accountability for Planning, Pacing, R2R and P2P activities
Role Summary/Purpose:
The AVP – FP&A, position is a part of the Finance Centre of Excellence organization and will be based out of Hyderabad, India. The desired employee is expected to manage and be part of a queue of Financial Planning / analytical projects and develop actionable recommendations based on findings. This individual is expected to partner with internal stakeholders to influence and drive strategy and may also need to lead a team of FP&A Analysts and drive strategy to develop the team. This position is responsible for Financial Planning & Analysis processes in support of the Synchrony Operations organization. Partner with Operations Senior Leaders to provide financial management and analysis to optimize efficiency and support innovation and growth initiatives. This role provides a great opportunity to continue developing analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills, to gain cross-functional broadening experiences working across Operations and Finance teams.
Essential Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting and Analysis – Prepare Daily Dashboards, Reports, analyze and interpret periodic financial data to functional management accurately and on a timely basis. Provide commentary and insights on performance against OP plan and prior year.

Support and execute annual Op Plan budgeting, weekly pacing estimation, variance analysis, and quarterly & monthly close responsibilities

Partner with respective SLT staff members to drive financial decision making, monitor and forecast Opex, headcount. Provide strategic financial decision support to the functional SLT’s / Staff and advocate for functional resource needs.

Financial Planning and Forecasting – Support Annual Budgeting/Operating Planning exercise assigned by analyzing historical data in conjunction with future growth plans and desired firm metrics.

Support Cost & Productivity Team Client Profitability allocation process and methodologies.

Analytics – Providing detailed analysis and handle projects to support decision making for business in partnership with stakeholders.

Create models using analytical tools for various decision across the business.

As part of the Operations Finance team, drive functional initiatives, evaluate investment decisions and influence strategy to ensure cost effective servicing, compliance, productivity & profitability.

Provide financial analysis and summaries, including identification of key drivers of the results, and areas of opportunity and risks in the respective functions.

Partner with sourcing to review contracts, SOW’s and purchase orders for compliance with company policy, legal entity requirements, and accounting distribution

Support and maintain strong controls around project approval, spend & reporting

Provides accurate and timely information to stakeholder and continuously seeks to enhance the service provided.

Maintains strong and trusting relationship with stakeholder. Implement internal controls and procedures to maintain accuracy in reporting.

Teaming – Best Practice with others in the team in interpreting financial data.

Drive process improvements by soliciting feedback and promoting simplification

Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned

Manage a team of FP&A Analysts
Qualifications/Requirements:
-
Post Graduate/ Graduate degree in Finance or Accounting, MBA-Finance, CA, CS with 10 years’ equivalent experience, or in lieu of degree, 12 years’ equivalent experience.

10+ years of progressive experience working with data/analytics in the financial services, credit card and/or payments industry.
-
Prior Progressive experience of Ownership of functional budget and stakeholder management

Progressive experience leading big teams.

Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite – Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook

Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to interact with staff (across all levels and functions) to develop a clear, concise message both externally and internally

Eligibility Criteria:
Post Graduate/ Graduate degree in Finance or Accounting, MBA-Finance, CA, CS with 10 years’ equivalent experience, or in lieu of degree, 12 years’ equivalent experience.
Work Timings: 4pm to 12am IST
(This role qualifies for Enhanced Flexibility and Choice offered in Synchrony India and will require the incumbent to be available between 06:00 AM Eastern Time – 11:30 AM Eastern Time (timings are anchored to US Eastern hours and will adjust twice a year locally). This window is for meetings with India and US teams. The remaining hours will be flexible for the employee to choose. Exceptions may apply periodically due to business needs.
