Job Description:
Role Summary/Purpose:
The Product Owner is responsible for continuous exploration, development and deployment of data products that enable Synchrony’s authentication strategic objectives. The ideal candidate will have strong project and data management skills, an Agile background working with cross functional teams; specifically, technology and operations and a proven track record of successfully delivering projects on time.

Essential Responsibilities:

Work closely with Authentication leadership and collaborate cross functionally (e.g., Customer Service, IT, Marketing, Fraud, Risk, Ops, Collections) to drive product strategy, develop the product roadmap, identify and influence the prioritization of features.

Translate the business objectives and requirements into user stories for the engineering organization. Work with Solution Architecture and Engineering to understand the tradeoffs of technical decisions and their impacts.

Ensure needs of the business and customers are met, plans are proactively communicated, and issues are raised quickly and resolved.

Refine and prepare Product Backlog for Program Increment commitments and release planning. Prioritize stories to ensure work focuses on delivering maximum business value in alignment with product strategy.

Collaborate with Scrum Master(s), System Architect(s) and other ART partners to manage the release scheduling and activities with integration across multiple Agile development teams.

Work closely with data architects and data governance to ensure compliance with all relevant data standards.

Lead the creation and maintenance of reports that detail system performance, stability and accuracy using Tableau, New Relic or similar products.

Spend a significant amount of time overseeing the actual development and release of the product; actively participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, sprint demos and post implementation monitoring.

Work hands-on with development team(s). Make critical decisions regarding functionality and priority by providing real-time feedback and answering ongoing questions.

Support SAFe Core Values, apply SAFe Principles & implement/follow SAFe practices and ceremonies.

Advocate for autonomous, self-organizing, empowered, and continuously improving teams.

Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned.
Qualifications/Requirements:
-
Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or similar and 5+ years’ Product Owner or Systems Analysts experience with requirements gathering, solution design, quality assurance, production release and post release monitoring.

In lieu of degree, high school diploma and 8+ years of relevant experience as Product Owner, Technical Product Manager, Systems Analyst or similar.

Experience leading the build of data pipelines, both batch and real-time using technologies such as Kafka, Python / PySpark, data lakes, MySQL and other similar technologies.

Proficient in creating documentations and presentations such as product roadmap and vision, stakeholder status updates, solution proposals along with tradeoffs and workflow/process diagrams.

Strong team building, meeting facilitation, collaboration and project management skills. Including the ability to facilitate teams through conflict, to identify and assess alternatives, and to align on the best recommendation and solution.
Desired Characteristics:

Master’s Degree or MBA with advanced analytic focus, or equivalent advanced degree

Familiar with Collibra or similar data catalogs and experience in providing and maintaining clear data definitions, establishing data rules and ownership.

Familiarity with Transmit, Fast Identity Online (FIDO), Web Authentication (WebAuthn), One-time Password (OTP), Biometrics, and multi-factor authentication (MFA) platforms.

Experience with Agile software development, preferably SAFe framework. SAFe certification strongly preferred.

Proficient with Atlassian Jira and Confluence within an Agile environment.

Experience working on solutions that integrate to 3rd party data providers.

High energy, self-motivated, with strong communication skills (verbal and written).
Grade/Level: 11
The salary range for this position is 90,000.00 – 155,000.00 USD Annual and is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance.
Actual compensation offered within the posted salary range will be based upon work experience, skill level or knowledge.
Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro and Seattle.

You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.

New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months’ time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 18 months’ time in position before they can post. All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don’t meet the time in position or performance expectations).
