Organizational Overview:
This role will be part of the Data Architecture & Analytics group in CTO organization.

The API Service team specializes in provisioning APIs for real time interactions with Enterprise Data Lake supporting business decision-making by designing and delivering resilient, scalable, secure and low latency solutions using cutting edge tools and cloud technologies.

The team leverages advanced solutions to accomplish stability while maintaining performance across multiple platforms that provide actionable insights across various business functions.

Through collaboration with cross-functional teams, the API team ensures seamless deployment and optimization of real time solutions in the Cloud Foundry.
Role Summary/Purpose:
As a AVP, Principal Software Engineer, you will play a vital role leading the team with design, architecture and implementing solutions for the products that help our clients/partners manage their finances on the go. You would be responsible for the technical success of the project while fostering a collaborative, efficient, and growth-oriented environment within the development team.
Key Responsibilities:

Provide technical guidance and oversight to a team of software developers, ensuring that projects are completed efficiently and effectively.

Act as the go-to person for resolving technical challenges.

Experience with system design and architecture, including ability to design scalable, high performance, and maintainable systems.

Review and approve design decisions and code challenges.
-
Ensure the technical solutions align with business goals and project requirements.
-
Conduct code review to maintain code quality, consistency, and best coding standards.
-
Lead by example with hands on coding, when necessary, especially to resolve complex problems.

Diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues that arise during the development lifecycle.

Database management experience (both SQL and NoSQL), along with an understanding of data structures and algorithms.

Understanding of security best practices, ensuring system vulnerabilities are minimized.

Provide timely technical solutions to blockers that affect project timelines.
-
Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to debug complex issues and guide team members towards incident resolution.

Takes ownership of problems and leads the team in resolving crises without succumbing to stress or passing the blame.

Stay updated with the latest technologies, tools, and industry trends.

Advocate for the adoption of new technologies, processes, or tools that can improve the team’s productivity and product quality.

Required Skills/Knowledge:

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field with minimum 6+ years of experience in Technology, or in lieu of a degree 8+ years of experience in Technology

Minimum 6+ years of software development experience, with a strong understanding of various programming languages, frameworks, and technologies, and API development in complex large-scale environments.

Minimum 2+ years in a leadership role (e.g., team lead, senior developer, or architect), managing or mentoring a team of developers.
-
Advanced degrees (Master’s or Ph.D.) can be a plus but are not always necessary if experience is significant.
-
Experience with full software development life cycle (SDLC) including requirement analysis, design, coding, testing, and development.
Desired Skills/Knowledge:

Experience with AWS cloud services.
-
Certifications in AWS or any other cloud platform.

Experience with Agile project management methods and practices.

Ability to see beyond day-to-day coding tasks, understanding how individual components fit into larger systems.

Demonstrated excellent verbal, written, communication and organizational skills.

Understanding the emotions and challenges of team members, leading with compassion and support.

Understanding how to delegate tasks effectively and trust team members while providing them autonomy to solve problems.

Capable of thinking outside the box to implement new technologies, tools, or methodologies to improve the development process.
Eligibility Criteria:
Work Timings: 3 PM to 12 AM IST
(This role qualifies for Enhanced Flexibility and Choice offered in Synchrony India and will require the incumbent to be available between 06:00 AM Eastern Time – 11:30 AM Eastern Time (timings are anchored to US Eastern hours and will adjust twice a year locally). This window is for meetings with India and US teams. The remaining hours will be flexible for the employee to choose. Exceptions may apply periodically due to business needs.
