Job Description:

Role Summary/Purpose :

As the General Manager of the Digital Retail portfolio, this role is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of the client relationships and portfolio performance in this category as well as playing a leadership role in partnership with Business Development to develop a BD strategy, maintain a target list of client prospects and win new deals. The role of the General Manager is to effectively drive growth and profitability of each Digital Retail portfolio by negotiating effective integration into the purchase process, delivering excellent customer experiences and expanding the product set offered to each client – as well as expanding Synchrony’s presence in the category by winning new deals.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Own each client relationship – develop and maintain strong rapport with Senior Clients Leaders as well as client day to day contacts and lead all efforts to gain the necessary client support for growth and product expansion initiatives

  • Establish, own and drive overall portfolio financial performance as well as key growth metrics.

  • Represent Synchrony’s interests in negotiations with clients

  • Understand and deliver on key client metrics

  • Partner with cross-functional SYF teams to develop and operationalize strategies that drive portfolio growth and evolution

  • Develop and support positive client team culture and manage and assess team performance against goals.  

  • Provide leadership to ensure adherence with all external and internal Compliance and Regulatory requirements. 

  • Support business wide initiatives as needed.

  • Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or in lieu of a degree HS Diploma/GED and 12+ years experience

  • 7+ years leadership experience in financial services or within the digital retail industry

  • 3+years negotiation experience

  • 5+ years client management experience

  • Knowledge of consumer financing including Marketing, Finance, Risk and Operations

  • Must be willing to travel to clients as necessary

  • Extensive client-based consumer finance experience Demonstrated success leading a team with proven track record of delivering results

  • Strategic leader but also an effective problem solver with the ability to influence the client, align on growth initiatives and drive execution of critical initiatives

  • Ability to effectively interface, influence and represent SYF at senior levels within the client organization

  • Skilled communicator who influences and negotiates with great latitude on outcomes

  • Superior Financial Acumen

  • Ability to innovate and find creative solutions to meeting business goals

  • Strong marketing, creative and analytical skills

  • Proven ability to work independently yet as key member and contributor to a broader team

Grade/Level: 14

The salary range for this position is 150,000.00 – 250,000.00 USD Annual and is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance.

Actual compensation offered within the posted salary range will be based upon work experience, skill level or knowledge.

Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro and Seattle.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • You must be 18 years or older

  • You must have a high school diploma or equivalent

  • You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process

  • You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.

  • New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles.  Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months’ time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles.  Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 18 months’ time in position before they can post.  All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don’t meet the time in position or performance expectations).
