Organizational Overview:

The role is part of Collections & Recovery Analytics and will be supporting Collections , Recovery and Servicing solutions. The team is focused on improving Collections, Recovery and Servicing Solutions performance, by building BI solutions to support Operations Leaders. This includes key performance indicators for cardholders and accounts, as well as metrics to support strategy development and execution.

Role Summary :

The AVP, SQL Database Administrator – DBA is responsible for the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of a SQL server database to support the BI solutions and products, that help the business drive actionable insights and enable smart decision-making across Global Operations including Servicing, Collections & Recovery. The BI solutions include key performance indicators for cardholders and accounts, as well as metrics to support strategy development and execution. The successful candidate must be intellectually curious, proactive, collaborative, driven, and communicative.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Analyze & organize raw data, design & build data systems and pipelines, implement, and maintain SQL jobs in supporting the data needs of the Business Intelligence & Insights team

  • Manage SQL Server databases through multiple product lifecycle environments, from development to mission-critical production systems.

  • Configure and maintain database servers and processes, including monitoring of system health and performance, to ensure high levels of performance, availability, and security.

  • Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities after hours.

  • Assist developers with complex query tuning and schema refinement.

  • Schedule and review SQL Server Agent Jobs

  • Support‌ ‌software‌ ‌developers‌ ‌with‌ ‌database‌ ‌operations‌ ‌including‌ ‌the‌ ‌development‌ ‌of‌ ‌ complex‌ ‌SQL,‌ ‌tuning‌ ‌of‌ ‌DML‌ ‌and‌ ‌the‌ ‌creation‌ ‌of‌ ‌stored‌ ‌procedures.‌ ‌

  • Ensure‌ ‌high‌ ‌levels‌ ‌of‌ ‌performance,‌ ‌availability,‌ ‌sustainability‌ , ‌and‌ ‌security‌

  • Independently analyze, solve, and correct issues in real time, providing problem resolution end-to-end.

  • Apply a combination of creativity, forward thinking, and practicality when designing and building applications; develop applications that not only function according to specifications but are also optimized for performance and future scalability

  • Own deliverables from end-to-end: scoping, estimating, creating and breaking out stories over contiguous sprints, design and build, unit testing, reviewing internally and externally, and deploying.

  • Work independently and consistently demonstrate an ability and desire to propose and own solutions that add business value; also demonstrate the ongoing ability to work in a team environment, specifically an Agile team; intake and apply technical direction from senior staff

  • Apply solid verbal and written communication skills

  • Perform special assignments and other duties as required

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent and 4+ years of relevant work experience in an information systems/development environment or in lieu of a degree, 6+ years of relevant work experience in an information systems/development environment.

  • 5+ years of Database Management and Support

  • 5+ years of experience in Microsoft Visual Studio 2015 or later, C# .Net and MS SQL 2012 or later

  • 5+ years of related work experience in programming and reporting.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Knowledge of REACT Razor and LINQ

  • Knowledge of Tableau, JIRA and basic concepts of Agile development

  • Previous experience in a financial services, collections, operations or customer service setting

  • Knowledge of FDR and Vision+

  • Experience in preparing and presenting analytical data and recommendations to senior-level management

  • Ability to take initiative and creatively address problems and issues without management engagement

  • Demonstrated organization, time management and prioritization skills

  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills

  • Strong communication skills, verbal and written (this would also be a tremendous plus)

Eligibility Criteria:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent and 4+ years of relevant work experience in an information systems/development environment or in lieu of a degree, 6+ years of relevant work experience in an information systems/development environment.

Work Timings: 2PM – 11PM IST

This role qualifies for Enhanced Flexibility and Choice offered in Synchrony India and will require the incumbent to be available between 06:00 AM Eastern Time – 11:30 AM Eastern Time (timings are anchored to US Eastern hours and will adjust twice a year locally). This window is for meetings with India and US teams. The remaining hours will be flexible for the employee to choose. Exceptions may apply periodically due to business needs.
