Organizational Overview:

The selected candidate will be part of Governance organization reporting to the VP, Tech & Ops Systems Governance Leader. The candidate will be responsible for understanding the requirements from the stakeholders & creating complex dashboards for different processes within the business, He/she would Pro actively communicate the project status to project owners & team members. Provide cross functional trainings & create backups for all the processes we support. The candidate will also be responsible for Utilizing queries from the multiple reporting systems and customer information collected from across  multiple business processes concurrently. 

 
Role Summary/Purpose:

As IT Developer Systems Governance_IC you will have the opportunity to work on various business initiatives that contribute to Synchrony’s growth and productivity objectives. This role enables you to work directly with the business in various reporting needs. You will have the opportunity to work with cross-functional teams and leverage state of the art tools (viz., SAS, BI, Tableau, Python). You will also will be responsible for the development and support of technical controls on development platform and Cloud technologies. The person will be responsible for developing control automation mechanisms which is a pivotal technical role within Synchrony Tech and Ops first line of defense organization (1LOD) to successfully demonstrate that supporting technology platforms adhere to industry standards and best practices. 

 
Key Responsibilities: 

  • Build new web solutions/platforms and enhancements, working closely with requirements analysts, testers, and the customer in an agile development practice 

  • Develop functional and technical specifications from business requirement 

  • Help create project estimates and plans. Represent engineering team in project meetings and solution discussions 

  • Ensure application quality and adherence to performance requirements 

  • Responsible for documentation, code reuse, re-factoring and design patterns standards compliance 

  • Ensure high standards of availability, scalability, and extensibility of internally developed applications 

  • Work closely with an experienced staff comprising both Synchrony resources and/or 3rd party contractors 

  • Understand requirements and create reports based on ad hoc requests. 

  • Liaise with teams (local & remote) to gather requirements & build reports, automate reports, document all reporting processes. 

  • Able to work with minimal direction but not afraid to ask questions when appropriate. 

  • Proactively communicate status of projects to project owners and team members 

  • Maintain quality of output by ensuring accuracy & timely delivery of reports and projects 

  • Responsible for enhanced validation of critical reports to provide accurate reports for end users. 

  • Establish appropriate contact with business segment peers to understand portfolios, drivers and actions for loss mitigation & Help the team to debug issues 

  • Establish working relationships with all stakeholders for assigned processes. 

  • Responsible for accurate preparation of management level reports, ad hoc reporting and analysis also enhanced validation of critical reports. 

  • Utilizing queries from the multiple reporting systems and customer information collected from across   multiple business processes concurrently. 

  • Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned. 

 
Required Skills/Knowledge: 

  • Master's or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Engineering with 2 to 4 years of analytics experience, or in lieu of a degree 4 to 6 years of analytics experience. 

  • Minimum 2+ years of experience in Python/Java

  • Minimum 2+ years of experience in SAS/Tableau

  • Minimum 2 years of  experience in software development

  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Access. 

  • Experience leveraging operating systems/multiple data sources for portfolio reporting and economic analysis. 

 
Desired Skills/Knowledge

  • Knowledge of Retail Finance business 

  • Work experience in a US financial institution or bank 

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to prepare clear communication and confidently present meaningful analysis to senior and executive management level. 

  • Demonstrated experience analyzing business data with the ability to distill large amounts of information down to the critical areas of focus. 

  • Clear thinker with an ability to think through processes. 

  • Proven ability to successfully interact with all levels of an organization. 

 
Eligibility Criteria: 

Master's or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Engineering with 2 to 4 years of analytics experience, or in lieu of a degree 4 to 6 years of analytics experience. 

 
Work Timings:This role qualifies for Enhanced Flexibility and Choice offered in Synchrony India and will require the incumbent to be available between 06:00 AM Eastern Time – 11:30 AM Eastern Time (timings are anchored to US Eastern hours and will adjust twice a year locally). This window is for meetings with India and US teams. The remaining hours will be flexible for the employee to choose. Exceptions may apply periodically due to business needs.
